Labiaplasty

What is labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty is a cosmetic surgery procedure for the labia minora. Through a combination of reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery (by reducing and reshaping), hypertrophic labia minora are restored to their natural anatomical shape, size, and function. Labiaplasty is an aesthetic-surgical intervention aimed at reshaping the labia, providing relief from physical discomfort and improving the aesthetic appearance of the genital region in women. This procedure is suitable for women who experience discomfort, whether physical or psychological, due to the size or shape of their labia.

Why is labiaplasty performed?

Some women naturally have excess skin in the area of the labia minora, while in others, this problem develops after childbirth or menopause. Sometimes, enlargement occurs on only one side, and labiaplasty can correct the asymmetry of the genital lips.
Regardless of the cause, it is an aesthetic issue that makes women feel uncomfortable, especially when wearing a swimsuit or being naked in front of their partner.
Discomfort arises due to chronic irritation and inflammation, which can occur during urination, sports, and even hinder hygiene maintenance.
This problem can also be functional. During sexual intercourse, women may experience dryness, swelling, or the labia minora may even retract into the vagina, leading to micro-injuries, skin tears, and infections. These are all reasons why women begin to avoid intimate relations, which negatively impacts their relationship with their partner.
The only solution to this problem is labiaplasty, i.e., the surgical reduction and reshaping of the labia minora.

What is the preparation for labiaplasty?

It is important to know that labiaplasty is performed after the menstrual cycle and should not be done during pregnancy.
During the initial consultation, the surgeon will explain the procedure and what final results you can expect. Regardless of the patient’s age, the results are permanent.
All preparations for the surgery are done at our clinic and are included in the price. This includes laboratory tests such as a complete blood count, basic biochemical tests with coagulation factors, and a gynecological examination.

Who is labiaplasty intended for?

  • Natural excess skin in the area of the labia minora
  • Asymmetry or hypertrophy caused by childbirth, menopause, or genetic factors
  • Physical discomfort and irritation during sports activities or when wearing certain types of clothing
  • Psychological comfort and improvement of sexual relations

How is labiaplasty performed?

Labiaplasty is most commonly performed under analgosedation. A microsurgical approach is used, which means that the scar will not be visible. Excess skin and tissue are removed, and simultaneously, the labia are reshaped.
The surgery lasts from 30 minutes to an hour. The patient is discharged the same day.

What results are achieved with labiaplasty?

The effect is permanent and immediately visible. The labia minora become firmer and have an optimal shape and size in accordance with the labia majora. When labial enlargement occurs after pregnancy or menopause, reconstruction restores the natural appearance of the labia, as it was before the problem arose.

What does recovery after labiaplasty look like?

Immediately after labiaplasty, pain may occur, which subsides after the use of pain relief medication recommended by the surgeon. You can resume your usual daily activities the next day. Hygiene is maintained by showering with lukewarm water and using a mild medical liquid soap, which your surgeon will recommend.
Stitches are removed during a follow-up examination, which takes place between the 7th and 10th day. Until then, the patient should avoid intense physical activity, including sports.
Normal sexual intercourse is allowed only one month after the surgery.

Are there risks during and after labiaplasty?

labiaplasty occur in less than 1% of cases. The risks of bleeding, infection, hematoma formation, and delayed wound healing are minimized when the surgery is performed by an experienced surgeon in fully sterile conditions and according to a strictly followed protocol, as is the case at our clinic.

FAQ

Are the results of Labiaplasty permanent?

Yes, labiaplasty results are permanent, providing long-lasting aesthetic and functional improved quality of life.

Sexual relations are allowed only one month after the surgery.

On the contrary, there is no reason to worry about sensitivity in the intimate area after labiaplasty. A significant number of patients report that the quality of their sexual relations improved considerably after the surgery, compared to the period before.

The cost of labiaplasty depends on the complexity of the procedure and the chosen technique. The average price includes consultations, the procedure, and postoperative care. The exact amount can be determined after a consultation and assessment by the specialist.

Labiaplasty provides aesthetic improvement by reshaping and reducing the labia minora for a harmonious and natural appearance of the genital region. The procedure helps increase self-confidence by removing asymmetry and excess skin, offering women greater comfort in intimate situations. It also enhances functionality by reducing discomfort during physical activities, urination, and sexual intercourse, while facilitating easier hygiene maintenance. The results of labiaplasty are permanent, offering both aesthetic and functional solutions.

The most commonly used techniques are:

  • Linear excision (Edge Excision) – This allows for straight edges and precise results.
  • V-plasty – This technique leaves the least visible scars and provides a natural look.
  • Deepithelialization reduction – This method maintains fullness of the labia minora with minimal changes.

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia or analgosedation, making it completely painless during the surgery. After the operation, mild pain may occur, which can be easily managed with pain relief medication.

When performed in sterile conditions by an experienced surgeon, labiaplasty is a very safe procedure with minimal risk of complications such as infections or delayed healing.

Most patients return to their daily activities within 2-3 days after the procedure, with restrictions such as avoiding strenuous physical activities and sports during the first 2 weeks

Labiaplasty does not reduce sensitivity. Many women have reported an improvement in comfort and the quality of their sexual life after the surgery.
